What is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. The technique uses a timer to break work into focused intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. These intervals are known as "pomodoros," the Italian word for tomatoes (after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer that Cirillo used as a university student).

The method is based on the idea that frequent breaks can improve mental agility and help maintain high levels of concentration throughout the day. By working in focused sprints, you can accomplish more while feeling less mentally fatigued.

Our free online Pomodoro timer makes it easy to implement this technique in your daily routine. No registration required, no data collection, and works perfectly on all devices.
