A quick guide

Choosing the right Privacy tools

Files carry more than what you see. Photos can store the GPS location and phone model they were taken with, PDFs and Word documents record authors, edit history and software, and screenshots often show names, faces or account numbers you did not mean to share.

These tools find and remove that information before you send a file. Unlike most online privacy tools, they never upload anything: your files are read and cleaned on your own device, so the sensitive data you are removing is never handed to a third party along the way.

Digital ToolPad brings together 26 free Privacy tools in one collection. Open a tool, add your input, and review the result on your device. All tool processing happens in your browser, without uploading your data to our servers for processing.

Why use a privacy tool that doesn't upload files?

Uploading a document to a server so that a service can remove its sensitive details defeats the purpose. Every tool here processes files locally in your browser, which you can confirm in the Network tab of your browser's developer tools.

What hidden information do my files contain?

Photos can include EXIF data such as GPS coordinates, capture time and camera model. PDFs and Word files can include the author's name, company, creation and edit dates, comments, and the software used to make them.

Is blurring or covering text enough to hide it?

Not always. Drawing a box over text in a PDF can leave the text underneath selectable, so use the PDF redaction tool, which removes the content itself. In images, light blur on text can sometimes be partly reversed; for passwords, ID numbers and other sensitive details, use a solid box or large pixelation, which replace the pixels.
