That distinction matters more than it sounds. A normal font is a file your device has to install before text can look different. Unicode scattered a dozen letters โ script B, E, F, H, I, L, M, R and Fraktur C, H, I, R, Z among them โ outside the main blocks. Most generators skip them and hand you empty rectangles. Every one is patched here, so "Hello" and "Christmas" render correctly in every style.

Fancy letters live outside the basic plane, so most apps count them as two characters. That is why bios silently truncate. The meter shows your real count against the real limit for the field you picked.
