Choosing an MP3 bitrate
- 128 kbps: small files, fine for speech, audiobooks and voice notes.

- Converting cannot add detail the source never had. If the video audio is 128 kbps AAC, a 320 kbps MP3 will be larger but not better.

Example: a 45-minute lecture
A 45-minute 1080p lecture recording is often several hundred megabytes as MP4. MP3 size depends only on length and bitrate: at 128 kbps it is about 43 MB (128 kbit/s × 2,700 s ÷ 8), and at 192 kbps about 65 MB. Either plays in any podcast app.
What to expect from the result
MP3 is a lossy format, so the audio is re-encoded rather than copied. Choose a bitrate at or above the source for the best result. Copy-protected (DRM) videos cannot be converted. If your browser cannot decode the audio codec, the tool automatically switches to its FFmpeg engine, which is slower and downloads about 32 MB once.
