Converting PSD to JPG

JPG is the most widely supported image format and gives small files for photos and complex artwork. This converter flattens the PSD in your browser, fills any transparency with white (JPG has no transparency), and saves it at the quality and size you pick. Use quality 85–90 for a good balance between sharpness and file size.

How to convert PSD to JPG

  1. Open the .psd file.
  2. Hide any layers you do not want.
  3. Choose JPG, then the size and quality.
  4. Click Download JPG.

Good to know about PSD files

  • For the most accurate preview, save PSDs with File → Preferences → File Handling → Maximize PSD Compatibility.
  • Fonts are listed by their PostScript names; install them before editing the text elsewhere.
  • Hidden layers in the file start hidden here too; click the eye to show them.
  • Smart objects show their rendered content; the embedded originals are not extracted.

Why use this PSD to JPG converter

  • Small, compatible filesJPG opens everywhere and keeps photos small enough for email and websites.
  • Quality sliderPick a quality from 50 to 100 and a size of 100%, 50% or 25%.
  • See every layerBrowse the layer tree with groups, blend modes and opacity, hide layers to check the composition, and save any layer as a transparent PNG.
  • Your designs stay privateFiles are opened in your browser and never uploaded, so client artwork and unreleased designs stay on your computer.

Common uses

  • Designer hand-off. Check a PSD from a designer or a stock site without a Creative Cloud licence.
  • Developers. Grab layer images and read text and font names for a build.
  • Client approvals. Preview mock-ups on any computer.
  • Quick conversions. Turn PSDs into PNG or JPG for the web.

Example: a banner for email

Open the sample banner, choose JPG at quality 85 and 50% size, and download a file a fraction of the PNG size.

What to expect from the result

Layer effects (shadows, strokes), masks and adjustment layers are not applied when the image is rebuilt from layers. CMYK and 32-bit documents may not display correctly. Very large PSB files are limited by browser memory.

PSD to JPG Converter questions

How do I convert PSD to JPG?

Open the PSD, choose JPG under Export, set the quality and click Download JPG.

What happens to transparent areas?

JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas become white. Use PSD to PNG to keep transparency.

Which quality should I use?

Use 85–90 for most images; 100 gives the largest files with little visible difference.

Why does my PSD look different from Photoshop?

Photoshop saves a flattened preview when “Maximize compatibility” is on, and that is shown exactly. Without it, or when you hide layers, the image is rebuilt from the layers, and layer effects, masks and adjustment layers are not applied.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The file is read and rendered in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server.
