A blank bingo card template you can change

A blank bingo card is an empty grid that players or teachers fill in by hand. Teachers hand them out so pupils write their own vocabulary words or numbers, families use them for New Year goal boards and reading challenges, and party hosts let guests guess the gifts at a shower. This template lets you choose the grid size, the title, the B-I-N-G-O header and the free space, then prints as a crisp PDF. When you would rather have the squares filled for you, switch to Numbers or Words & emoji and every card is generated automatically.

How to print a blank bingo card

  1. Blank is already selected. Choose a 3x3, 4x4 or 5x5 grid.
  2. Set the title, turn the B-I-N-G-O header and the free space on or off, and pick a colour or the ink saver theme.
  3. Enter how many copies you need, then choose 1, 2 or 4 per page.
  4. Select Download PDF or Print. Hand out the cards with pens, or fill them with a list of words to call.

Ways to use a blank bingo card

  • Write-your-own word bingo. Pupils copy 24 words from the board in any order, so every card is different.
  • Goal and challenge boards. A reading challenge, a fitness month or a New Year resolutions board on one sheet.
  • Baby shower gift guessing. Guests guess which gifts the parents will open and mark them during the opening.
  • Number practice. Young children write numbers from 1 to 20 on a 3x3 or 4x4 card before the game.

Blank bingo card sizes

  • 3x3 (9 squares, 8 with a free space): preschool, quick party rounds and goal boards with a few big goals.
  • 4x4 (16 squares): shorter games and a good fit for 4 cards per page.
  • 5x5 (25 squares, 24 with a free space): the standard bingo card and the one people expect.
  • For write-in cards, 1 or 2 per page leaves enough room for handwriting.

Bingo rules and winning patterns

Every player gets a different card. The caller draws numbers or words one at a time and players mark them when they appear on their card. The first player to complete the agreed pattern shouts BINGO, the caller checks the card against the calls, and the round ends. Agree the pattern and the prizes before the first call.

Any line
A full row, column or diagonal. The free space counts. The usual first prize.
Four corners
The four corner squares. Quick to explain, a little slower to win than a line.
Blackout (cover all)
Every square on the card. Usually the last and biggest prize of the night.
Two lines or X
Agree it before the game and check it by eye; the caller checks lines, corners and blackout for you.

What is on a 75-ball bingo card?

The standard American bingo card is a 5x5 grid. Each column takes its numbers from its own range of 15, which is how a caller can say "N 42" and players know where to look. With the free space there are 24 numbers on a card, and 552,446,474,061,128,648,601,600,000 possible different cards, so a generator never runs out. On 3x3 and 4x4 cards this tool keeps the same idea: 15 numbers per column, so 1 to 45 and 1 to 60.

Example: write-your-own spelling bingo

Choose 5x5 with a free space, title it SPELLING BINGO, set 28 copies and 2 per page. Write 24 spelling words on the board. Each pupil copies them into their card in any order. Read the words aloud in a random order (or load them into Words & emoji and use the Caller tab), and the first pupil with a full line reads it back.

What to expect from the result

Blank cards are printed with empty squares only. To print the same layout already filled with numbers or your words, switch the card type; the cards are then shuffled so every player gets a different card.

Blank Bingo Card Template questions

Is this blank bingo card template free?

Yes. Print as many blank bingo cards as you like with no sign-up and no watermark.

Can I print a blank bingo card without the free space?

Yes. Turn off Free space. The free space is only available on 3x3 and 5x5 cards, because a 4x4 grid has no middle square.

Can I remove the B-I-N-G-O letters?

Yes. Turn off the B-I-N-G-O header, or change the title to anything you like, such as READING CHALLENGE.

How do I print the bingo cards?

Choose 1, 2 or 4 cards per page and Letter or A4, then select Download PDF or Print. In the print dialog choose Actual size or 100% so the cards are not shrunk. One card per page is best for seniors and young children, four per page saves paper.

Are my bingo cards or word lists stored online?

No. The cards are generated in your browser and the PDF is built on your device. Your settings and the game in progress are saved in this browser only, so you can close the tab and carry on later. Nothing is sent to our server.
