What is Christmas Pictionary?

Christmas Pictionary is Pictionary played with holiday words: you draw a candy cane, a gingerbread house or a snow angel while your team guesses. This generator picks from Christmas things, characters, activities, food and winter fun, with Christmas movies and songs as harder extras you can switch on. Easy words are simple shapes like a star, a bell or a stocking; medium words need more detail, like an advent calendar or a nativity scene; hard words are ideas such as Christmas Eve or a white Christmas that take real creativity. Words do not repeat until the deck is used up.

How to play Christmas Pictionary

  1. Pictionary and the Christmas theme are already selected.
  2. Pick a difficulty, and switch on Christmas movies or Christmas songs if your group likes a challenge.
  3. Set a timer and the number of teams.
  4. The drawer taps Next word (or turns on Hide each word until tapped), starts the timer and draws on paper or a whiteboard.
  5. Press Got it for each correct guess, Skip for a word nobody gets, and Next team at the end of a turn.

Pictionary rules in one minute

  • Split into two or more teams of at least two players. Each team needs paper or a whiteboard and a pen.
  • One player on the team sees the word and draws it. No letters, numbers, spoken clues or gestures.
  • The rest of the team shouts guesses until someone says the word or the timer runs out. Similar words do not count unless you agree they do.
  • A correct guess scores a point. The drawing passes to the next team, and each player takes a turn as the drawer.
  • Play to an agreed score, such as 10 points, or for a set number of rounds.

Example: a classroom Christmas party

Put a whiteboard at the front, split the class into 3 teams and choose Easy with a 90-second timer. Keep this page on the teacher's phone with Hide each word until tapped on: the drawer comes up, peeks at the word and starts drawing. Or print 48 cards beforehand and let each team pick theirs from a stocking.

What to expect from the result

You still need something to draw on. A few hard words, like Boxing Day, are British traditions; press Skip for any that do not suit your group. Movie and song titles are hard to draw, so they are off by default. Every word is family friendly.

Christmas Pictionary FAQ

What are some easy Christmas Pictionary words?

Star, bell, candy cane, stocking, present, snowman, Christmas tree, wreath, mittens and reindeer are all easy to draw and guess. Choose Easy to get only words like these.

What are hard Christmas Pictionary words?

Hard words are ideas and phrases: Christmas Eve, naughty list, Secret Santa, white Christmas and a partridge in a pear tree. Switch on Christmas movies and songs for even harder rounds.

How do you play Christmas Pictionary?

Split into teams. One player looks at a Christmas word and draws it, with no letters, numbers or talking, while their team guesses before the timer runs out. A correct guess scores a point; then the next team draws.

Can I print a Christmas Pictionary word list?

Yes. Use Printable cards to save a PDF of up to every Christmas word, 12 per page. For a plain list, open the Random words tab, set Word list to Christmas and How many to 100, and save it as a text file.

Is it suitable for kids?

Yes. Easy words are simple shapes children can draw, and every word in the deck is family friendly.

Do words repeat?

Not until every word in the categories you picked has come up once. Then the deck is shuffled again and a new round starts. The counter under the card shows how many words are left.

Do I need an app or an account?

No. It runs in any browser on a phone, tablet, laptop or smart TV. There is no account, no download and no ads between turns, and the words, timer and scores all stay on your device.
