What is a CPS test?

A CPS (clicks per second) test measures how fast you can click a mouse button or tap a screen. You click inside the box for a fixed time and the test divides your total clicks by the seconds elapsed. CPS matters in games such as Minecraft PvP, where faster clicking means more hits, and it is a fun way to practise techniques like jitter clicking and butterfly clicking. Choose a duration from 1 to 100 seconds; your best score for each is saved in this browser.

How to take the CPS test

  1. Choose a test length. 5 or 10 seconds is standard.
  2. Click inside the box to start. The timer begins on the first click.
  3. Keep clicking as fast as you can until the timer reaches zero.
  4. Read your CPS and total clicks. Select Try again to beat your best score.

Clicking techniques and typical scores

  • Regular clicking: most people reach 5–7 CPS.
  • Jitter clicking: tensing the arm to vibrate the finger, often 10–14 CPS.
  • Butterfly clicking: alternating two fingers on one button, often 15–20+ CPS, though some servers and mice limit it.
  • Drag clicking: sliding a finger across the button to make it bounce; it can exceed 30 CPS but depends on the mouse surface.

Why use this cps test

  • Instant startNo countdown screen: the first click starts the timer, so every click counts.
  • Seven durationsFrom a 1-second burst to a 100-second endurance test.
  • Best score savedYour best CPS per duration is kept in this browser only.
  • Mouse, trackpad or touchWorks on desktop and mobile; taps count the same as clicks.

When to run a cps test

  • Minecraft PvP practice. Track jitter-click and butterfly-click speed.
  • Testing a new mouse. See whether a lighter switch helps your speed.
  • Challenges with friends. Compare scores on the same duration.
  • Warm-up. Loosen up before a gaming session.

Checking a whole setup? Run the mic test, webcam test, keyboard test, mouse test, gamepad tester, sound test, dead pixel test and refresh rate test, or browse all device tests.

Example: improving from 6 to 9 CPS

Run the 10-second test three times a day and note your best. Keep the wrist relaxed, click with the fingertip rather than the whole finger, and lower the mouse sensitivity in games so jitter does not move your aim.

What to expect from the result

The score counts every press the browser receives. Mice with double-click faults inflate scores; use the double click test if your CPS looks unrealistically high. Some mice have a minimum time between clicks (debounce) that caps the result.

CPS Test questions

What is a good CPS score?

Around 6–7 CPS is typical. Above 10 is very fast and usually needs jitter clicking; 15+ is butterfly or drag-clicking territory.

How is CPS calculated?

Total clicks divided by the test duration in seconds. For example, 85 clicks in 10 seconds is 8.5 CPS.

Which test length should I choose?

The 5 and 10 second tests are the most common for comparing scores. Longer tests measure stamina; the 1-second test measures burst speed.

Does the CPS test work on mobile?

Yes. Taps count as clicks. Use one finger or alternate two fingers for higher scores.

Is my best score stored online?

No. Your best score for each duration is saved only in this browser’s local storage. Clearing site data removes it.
