CSV Viewer
Open a CSV to read it as a proper table: sorted, searchable and with column statistics, instead of a wall of commas.
- Auto delimiter & encoding
- Sort & search
- Column stats
- No upload
Drop a CSV file here or paste CSV text with Ctrl+V. CSV, TSV, XLSX and Parquet all work.
What is a CSV viewer?
A CSV (comma-separated values) file is plain text where each line is a row and commas, semicolons or tabs separate the columns. Text editors show it as a jumble, and spreadsheet apps can mangle it by converting IDs to numbers or dates. A CSV viewer shows the data as a table without changing anything. This one detects the delimiter (comma, semicolon, tab or pipe) and the text encoding (UTF-8, UTF-16 or Windows-1252), handles quoted fields with commas and line breaks, and lets you sort, search, inspect columns and export to Excel, JSON or Markdown.
How to view a CSV file
- Choose Open File and pick your .csv, .tsv or .txt file, drag it onto the page, or paste CSV text.
- Check that the delimiter and “First row is header” are right; both are detected automatically.
- Sort by clicking a column name, search all cells, and click any cell to see its value and column stats.
- Export the table, or just the matching rows, as Excel, CSV, JSON or Markdown.
Tips for messy CSV files
- If every row appears in one column, change the delimiter: European exports often use semicolons.
- Garbled accents (é instead of é) mean the file is not UTF-8; it is decoded as Windows-1252 automatically when needed.
- Untick “First row is header” for files without column names.
- Exporting to Excel keeps numbers as numbers and text, including leading zeros, as text.
Why use this CSV viewer
- Search, sort and inspectSort any column, search every cell, click a cell to see its full value, and get column stats: type, blanks, unique values, min, max, sum and average.
- Handles large filesOnly the rows on screen are drawn, so files with hundreds of thousands of rows scroll smoothly. Search and sort the whole file instantly.
- Export what you needDownload the data, or just the rows matching your search, as CSV, TSV, JSON, Excel or a Markdown table.
- Private by designThe file is read by your browser and never uploaded, so customer lists, payroll exports and financial data stay on your computer.
Files you can open
| Format | Extensions | Supported |
|---|---|---|
| CSV / TSV | .csv, .tsv, .txt | Comma, semicolon, tab or pipe; UTF-8, UTF-16 or Windows-1252 |
| Excel workbook | .xlsx, .xlsm | All sheets, cached formula values, date and percent formats |
| Apache Parquet | .parquet | Snappy, Gzip, Zstd, Brotli and LZ4; schema and row groups |
Common uses
- Data exports. Check exports from Shopify, Stripe, Google Analytics or a CRM before importing them elsewhere.
- Leading zeros. See ZIP codes and IDs exactly as stored, without Excel stripping zeros.
- Developers. Inspect API dumps and test fixtures quickly.
- Phones and tablets. Read CSV attachments without a spreadsheet app.

Example: an orders export
The sample has 20 orders with 9 columns. Sort Total descending to find the largest order (759.96), search “Ireland” to filter to 3 rows, and click the Quantity column to see a sum of 64 units.
What to expect from the result
Viewing only: cells cannot be edited. Very large files are limited by your browser’s memory (several hundred megabytes usually works).
CSV Viewer questions
How do I open a CSV file online?
Choose Open File and select the .csv, or drag it onto the page. It appears as a table instantly, without uploading.
Why is all my data in one column?
The file uses a different delimiter. The viewer detects comma, semicolon, tab and pipe automatically, and you can switch it manually.
Can I convert CSV to Excel?
Yes. Choose Excel (.xlsx) under Export. Numbers stay numeric and text, including values with leading zeros, stays text.
How large a file can I open?
Files of several hundred megabytes open on most computers, limited by your browser’s memory. Rows are drawn as you scroll, so large tables stay responsive.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is opened and processed by your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server and the page works offline once loaded.
