What is an invisible character?
An invisible character is a Unicode character that takes up space (or none) but shows nothing. Apps that refuse empty names or messages usually accept them, which is how people create blank usernames in games, empty WhatsApp messages or extra line breaks on Instagram. The most reliable are the Hangul Filler (U+3164) and the Braille Pattern Blank (U+2800); zero-width characters such as U+200B are invisible and take no space at all. This page lets you copy each one and also detects and removes invisible characters hidden in text you paste.

Invisible characters, explained
- Hangul Filler (ㅤ U+3164) is a Korean filler character that most apps treat as a letter, so it passes “name cannot be empty” checks.
- Braille Pattern Blank (⠀ U+2800) is an empty Braille cell; Instagram and TikTok do not strip it.
- Zero-width characters (U+200B, U+200C, U+200D, U+2060) take no space and are used for formatting and emoji.
