What is military time?

Military time is a 24-hour clock written as four digits without a colon. The day starts at 0000 (midnight) and ends at 2359. Hours after noon continue counting: 1:00 PM is 1300 and 5:30 PM is 1730. It removes AM and PM confusion, which is why it is used by the military, hospitals, aviation, emergency services and many workplaces.

What is 1700 in military time?

1700 is 5:00 PM. Subtract 12 from any military hour of 13 or more to get the PM hour.

For AM times, write the hour with a leading zero (9:30 AM = 0930). For PM times after noon, add 12 to the hour (4:15 PM = 1615). Noon is 1200 and midnight is 0000.

Yes, except that military time is usually written without a colon (1730 instead of 17:30).
