What is a business days calculator?
A business days calculator counts the working days between two dates: Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Use it for payment terms, shipping estimates, notice periods, SLAs and payroll. This calculator includes US federal holidays with their observed dates and bank holidays in England and Wales, and lets you add company closure days.
How to use Business Days Calculator
- Choose the start and end dates. Both dates are counted if they are working days.
- Pick US federal holidays, UK bank holidays or none.
- Optionally type extra days off such as 2026-12-24, separated by commas.
- Read the working days and open “Holidays skipped” to see which holidays were excluded.
Holidays included
- US: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth (from 2021), Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, moved to Friday or Monday when they fall on a weekend.
- UK (England and Wales): New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, the early May, spring and summer bank holidays, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with substitute days, plus the one-off changes in 2020, 2022 and 2023.
- Scotland and Northern Ireland have different bank holidays; add them as extra days off.

Example: working days in November 2026 (US)
Enter 1 November and 30 November 2026 with US holidays. November has 30 days, 9 of them weekend days. Veterans Day (Wednesday 11 November) and Thanksgiving (Thursday 26 November) are skipped, leaving 19 business days. Add 27 November as an extra day off if your office closes on Black Friday.
What to expect from the result
Holiday lists cover US federal holidays and bank holidays in England and Wales. State holidays, other countries and company holidays must be added manually. Half days are not supported.

Are the start and end dates included?
Yes. Both dates count if they are working days, which is how most people count “working days in March”.
How many business days are in a year?
Usually about 250 to 252 in the US after weekends and federal holidays, and about 252 to 254 in England and Wales. Enter 1 January to 31 December to get the exact figure.
Can I add days my company is closed?
